Drew in the Raw

This is a video on Drew on the sideline after breaking the record. It’s so obvious how much this team loves him. I think his interaction with Colston was my favorite. Can you ever remember seeing Colston talk on the sideline? I can’t for the life of me. But yeah, go watch this:

This was supposed to be a list of 11 examples of players and media figures whining about The Record.

But it is not that.

The reason it’s not is because after a thorough two-man search of the interwebs we’ve discovered that there actually isn’t much controversy about Drew Brees setting the all-time passing record late in the Atlanta shellacking. There just aren’t eleven examples of actual criticism—there’s very little from the Falcons camp and even less from any respected sports media.

It seemed to me that there was a lot, though; didn’t it seem that way to you too? What then’s behind all the noise if in reality there’s not much material criticizing Sean Payton, Drew Brees, and the Saints?

Well. This is why.

This is probably a good time to remember that cliche about pictures being worth a lot of words.

Kiss My Asterisk

Last week, CBS’s Mike Freeman had the audacity to make the case that the yardage record that Drew Brees now owns should be written in the record books with an asterisk. Today he wrote that the Packers are the NFL’s only great team.  Meanwhile his coworker, Pete Prisco, published an article with this headline: “Brees’ record-breaking night tainted by decision to go for it late,” and still in another corner of the universe Jason Cole asks if we were “right” in running up the score.

I’m forced to ask a simple question: are they watching the same game as us? I can barely express how infuriating this is (on today of all days). Fortunately though, I think I can muster up responses to defend the honor of our quarterback, the quality of this team, and the depth of my hatred for national media coverage today.

Respect.

There’s nothing quite like the Drew Brees Fist Pump. This one was a little more enthusiastic than normal, but we’ll allow it given the circumstances

this picture says it all.

As of halftime, it’s 75 yards to go.

You know what we mean.
